About the Program

Texas Academic Decathlon

Academic Decathlon is a rigorous team competition in which students of all GPA levels participate together, competing in ten subject areas. Each team of nine includes three students from each of three GPA divisions: Honors (3.85–4.00), Scholastic (3.50–3.8499), and Varsity (0–3.4999).

This unique format ensures that every student, regardless of GPA, has an equal opportunity to excel and contribute to their team's success. Teams advance from district and scrimmage meets through Regional and State competitions, with top finishers advancing to the National championship.

This Year's Theme: Journeys of Transformation

An Exploration of Travel and Transportation

This year's curriculum explores the history and impact of travel and transportation, from ancient trade routes and maritime exploration to the innovations that continue to move people, goods, and ideas across the globe. The theme applies to Art, Economics, Literature, Music, Science, and Social Science.
